Functional Skills Maths Level 1 is equivalent to a GCSE Maths grade 1 to 3 (D to G on the old GCSE grading system). Maths Level 1 course is popular with adults who failed GCSE maths.
Level 1 maths is for adults who need to retake GCSE Maths but aren’t ready for Maths Level 2. (Which is the that same as a GCSE maths pass grade.)

You will need to complete an initial assessment to check that the level is right for you. Don’t worry, if there are items that you need to practice as we will incorporate these into your program of study.
If you cannot sit your exam at one of our centres, you will need to make your own arrangements with your local exam centre.
Think Employment can’t offer any assistant in finding exam centres outside of our catchment area, we have testing centres in London, Manchester, Leeds, Hull and Grimsby. If you’re near one of our centres then you will be able to sit your exam there.

What assessments will I have to do?
There is one exam for this course. Depending on your support package, you will also have the option to attempt marked mock exams before you take your final exam.
Where will I take my exams?
We have our own examination centres in Leeds, Grimsby, Hull and Stockport. If you cannot get to these locations, you’ll need to make arrangements with an examination centre near you.

There’s alot to consider when trying to work out how long a course may take someone. First of all you need to be at a certain level prior to starting, this is why we offer our Initial Assessments free of charge. So that you can be sure you’re starting the right course for you. Once you’ve done the Initial Assessment you will then go through a Diagnostic which will go into more detail and show us your strengths and weaknesses. We will then ask you to go through the units that you need practice in.
