Retake GCSE Maths – Find Out What To Do If You Failed GCSE Maths
If you failed your GCSE Maths, you have two options 1) retake your GCSE Maths exam during the November 2019 resits, 2) sign up for a Functional Skills Maths Level 2 course.
When can I find out my GCSE Maths results?
The 2019 GCSE Maths result will be published on Thursday, 22th August 2019.
You’ll be able to collect your results from your school, college or learning centre in the morning. Please contact your education provider to find out the timings.
Who has to retake GCSE Maths?
Whether you have to resit depends on your GCSE Maths grade. If you’re aged between 16 and 18 and don’t hold a GCSE grade 9-4 (or A*-C), you must study maths. If you’re aged between 19 and 25 with an education, health and care plan (EHCP) and don’t hold a GCSE grade 9-4 (or A*-C), you must study maths. But your options depend on the GCSE Maths grade you achieved.

Do you want to progress in college and higher education?
If you’re a full-time student with a GCSE Maths grade 3 (or a D in the old GCSE grading system), you must resit your GCSE Maths if you want to study at college or progress in higher education.
What if I’m a full-time student and achieved a GCSE Maths Grade 2 or lower?
If you’re a full-time student and you achieved a GCSE Maths Grade 2 or below (grade E or below in the old GCSE grading system). You can study GCSE Maths or a maths qualification that’s an approved stepping-stone qualification.
What if I’m a part-time student and achieved a GCSE Maths Grade 3 or lower?
If you’re a part-time student and achieved a GCSE Maths grade 3 (or grade D in the old GCSE grading system). You can study GCSE Maths or a maths qualification that’s an approved stepping-stone qualification.
